Services
Clients of Accendor have ranged from purchasers of single publications from our research work to extended, multi-project consulting projects and multi-year educational and leadership development offerings. Clients have ranged from independent entrepreneurs to multi-billion-dollar/year corporations. Regardless of their size or volume of business, however, all clients are treated with fairness and integrity.
Each client has a customized contract (or set of contracts) established based on one or more of the following service elements:
Analysis: Accendor’s research capabilities can be deployed for clients directly. Integrating the domains of economics, energy, talent and technology with the areas of interest to the client. Specific applications include future markets and market conditions, product opportunities, merger/acquisition and divestiture opportunities, globalization and de-globalization of firms, and the quality of a company’s strategy (business, human resources, marketing or IT).
“Accendor’s expertise to assist our company mm1Media on several fronts. Their professionalism, focus and unending commitment was invaluable to us.” — CEO, Media Provider
Board Level: Accendor’s princpal analysts are experienced at the level of executive management committees and Boards of Directors. Board level assignments include annual strategy presentations, presentation of findings on behalf of the client, establishment of governance boards and other shared-responsibility bodies, etc.
“Accendor’s top people have encyclopaedic knowledge in an unusually large variety of fields including finance, information processing, talent management, product strategy, economics and education. It is easy to bounce ideas around with them. All that knowledge is highly focused and ready for strategic consideration.” — CEO, Financial Reporting & Analysis
Consulting: Accendor’s consulting options focus on studies aimed at improving organizational performance, or on establishing an asset base for the future. We have a specialized practice area for IT infrastructure needs, drawing on a financial architecture and leading to architectural roadmaps or specific asset decisions (e.g. sourcing, restructuring data centres and networks, etc.). Throughout an Accendor consulting effort, our analysis and research is brought into play for the client’s benefit.
“Accendor’s command of business and IT strategies, specifically how to create, test, enhance and actualize them, is without equal. They help clients get right to the heart of the matter in a highly pragmatic way. Every engagement I have with Accendor is enlightening, and a true pleasure.” — CEO, Software/Services
Education: Accendor has a library of education sessions available for use in client locations — or Accendor can develop a curriculum specific to your needs. Our preferred model is not merely “a session” or “a course”, but a mix of material and discussion with participants. From individual topics to annual team development efforts, in business management of technology, IT management, collaboration and peer-based organizations, and people management, Accendor sessions spark organizations into life.
“I want you to come in once per month and shock us. Make us think! — and I’ll see who wants to take a risk and do something with what you bring to us. Those are our future leaders.” — CIO, Financial Services.
Entrepreneurs: Accendor offers specialized services for start up companies and entrepreneurs. These recognize that firms like these often lack sufficient management depth to allow initiatives to proceed: it is necessary to advise action, coach the incumbents, tailor the program to the time available, focus on just a few key elements ... or value will not be obtained. In particular, technology-based start ups are a specialty of the Accendor team.
“Our company was provided with up-to-date information and research, sound advice, and awareness of new opportunities that provided us the clarity to make a sensible business decision for our company’s growth. Without Accendor’s clear, articulate and targeted guidance, we would have sunk in a sea of ambiguous ideas and ill-conceived options.” — Senior Vice-President, Software
Forecasting: Clients can select to directly receive Accendor’s formal forecasts for the business environment and the use of technology in enterprises. These two forecasts — the Trendview and ITview — are half-day sessions exclusively for those clients who elect to include them, including discussion time with analysts. Executive-level versions of these, suitable for executive management committees, governance boards or Boards of Directors, are also available.
“Accendor has excellent analysts and consultants who are able to combine a strategic perspective with direct links to business and information technology strategy. Accendor’s forecasting process combines information and frameworks for analysis with a deep understanding of history. This enhances their ability to make wise recommendations that are grounded in long-term trends.” — Chief Operating Officer, Major Division, Consulting Firm
Leadership Development: Accendor offers formal development programs for management teams and new executives. These are topic area based: for instance, for new CIOs or their direct reports, topics include architecture, governance, relationship management, portfolio management, program management, etc. The programs are designed to either be delivered in a two day period in person, or as one-two topics/month via the Internet.
“I thought I knew my job and how to perform it well. Now I know what my job really is, how to add value, and how to perform at a whole new level.” — Director, IT Group, Financial Services
“There is a world of difference between managing when all is well and leading when all is chaotic. Thanks to Accendor for teaching the difference: you prepared me to save my company in a deep crisis.” — CEO, Hardware Distributor
Mentoring: As a counterpart to, or alternative to, formal education and development programs, Accendor also offers one-on-one relationships with its analysts and client managers. These involve regular contact and a deep learning about the client’s role and environment in order to provide effective coaching and mentoring of the individual. The goal of a mentoring agreement is to improve the individual’s effectiveness in their job — and the delivery of the projects under their command.
“I found Bruce to be one of the most original thinkers with whom I have ever worked. His analytical ability never ceased to amaze, and he has an unerring skill in identifying the heart of a problem — and then suggesting a solution. But the real follow up is: I’ve jumped from a second-level manager to the Vice-President’s role in the past two years.” — VP, Distribution Company
Research: Accendor conducts two forms of research which is available to clients:
Published research: Accendor regularly publishes research notes and reports which are available to clients on a subscription basis, or as one-off purchases.
Custom research: Accendor will undertake specific research investigations on behalf of clients. The resulting reports are analytical and for the client’s use (not for general distribution).
“Accendor’s research products — both off the shelf and done to order — are thoughtful, impeccable and action-oriented.” — VP, Product Development, Software Company
“Anyone not following Accendor — and its analysts — on Twitter are missing an opportunity to do something unique: to look behind the scenes at the working of great minds.” — Industry Analyst, Research Firm
Reviews: Often, when a team has completed its work, there’s a need to get a second opinion before taking the work forward. Accendor’s analysts regularly undertake document, contract and RFP reviews; critique working documents, and convert client materials into content suitable for regulators, boards, etc.
“Accendor’s comments are both sharp and extremely knowledgeable. The rare combination of deep market knowledge and horizon-oriented thinking renders Accendor’s work a terrific catalyst for business growth.” — VP, Innovation, Financial Services
Speaking: Accendor’s Bruce Stewart and Jon Husband are both accomplished international speakers who appear regularly each year at public conferences. Both also routinely keynote company conferences and management retreats.

“Keynote, workshop, panel leader: Accendor always delivers great information made ready-to-use, and is very pragmatic about the art of the possible in companies. Yet, at the same time, I come away inspired, ready to take on change — and enlightened as well. It’s an amazing combination.” — CEO, Consulting Firm
White Papers: A special program for technology vendors and government departments uses Accendor’s analytic capabilities to prepare white papers for use in product marketing and/or policy formation.
It is Accendor’s policy to treat all interactions with clients as under non-disclosure — including their name — unless specific permission to use information is sought. For this reason, no indication of client identities or precise engagement details is given.
